Celebrating Suzanne Stockman

Past and present library staff
Past and present trustees

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the Fairport Public Library held a reception in honor of Suzanne Stockman, who has retired after serving on the Board of Trustees for 35 years. Staff, colleagues, friends and family were in attendance as Town Supervisor, Ciaran Hanna, presented her with a proclamation to commemorate her contributions to the community. At her final board meeting earlier that evening, current board president, Chris Mirrione, shared this sentiment:

“On behalf of the residents of the Fairport Central School District, it is with immense pleasure that I commend Suzanne Stockman for her 35 years of service to our community.

During her tenure, she has served consistently and faithfully to ensure the library remains a vital community resource. She has demonstrated a commitment to the library’s mission of providing equal access to educational, informational, and recreational resources for our fellow community members.

Suzanne has helped guide the library through many challenges and changes over the years, including technological shifts, building renovations and upgrades, and evolving community needs. She has been a champion for library staff and she has modeled the collaborative spirit that is essential for an effective Board of Trustees.

It has been a privilege to witness her dedication to service and her advocacy for libraries. Suzanne’s passion for the Fairport Public Library should serve as an inspiration for all current and future board members, and her legacy of service will have a lasting impact on our community.”
