Frost Outreach Program

FROST: Friends Readers Outreach Service Team

The FROST program is a partnership between the Fairport Public Library and its Friends Group. FROST matches volunteers with homebound clients who love to read but can’t get to the library. It is also great for those who do not feel comfortable coming into the library.

How FROST works:

  • A participant (library patron) must be a resident of Perinton. All participants will receive a library card when they sign up if they do not already have one.
  • Interested patrons should fill out a FROST application and return it to the library. Included on the application is a selection of reading genres (mystery, historical fiction, classics, biography, etc) to guide librarians in selecting titles for the patron.
  • Patrons will be matched with a volunteer and materials will be selected for the patron by a librarian. Specific titles can also be requested for delivery.
  • A Friend volunteer will deliver items to the patron at a time that is convenient for them both.

Those who are currently in the program are enjoying the service and making new friends. We have many volunteers ready to be matched with patrons.

If you know someone interested in this service, please call the library at 585-223-9091.
