Fairport Public Library has a "Mover & Shaker"

Stephanie Squicciarini is the Teen Services Librarian at Fairport Public Library. In March, she was selected as one of Library Journal’s Movers & Shakers of 2008, and she will also be honored at the Rochester Regional Library Council Annual Meeting on June 5, 2008.

Stephanie is so passionate about the service provided to students in grades 6 through 12 that she is always coming up with new programs and events to connect teens with books, reading, and just plain fun things to do in the library. The Third Annual Greater Rochester Area Teen Book Festival was held April 5, 2008, and drew teens (more than 2000!) from all over the country to meet with 12 of their favorite teen authors. The Summer Reading program for teens consistently draws more than 200 dedicated readers, and the craft events, babysitting, and Guitar Hero sessions are usually filled up as well. Library staff has always known that Stephanie has special librarian skills—she’s our very own "action figure!" Now the rest of the world knows it too.
