Why are you running for the Library Board of Trustees'?
"My prior experience on the Board of Trustees reinforced to me the value that quality library services bring to our community, as well as the importance of equal access to technology, information, and educational resources. I believe my financial background will enable me to help the library preserve and improve these resources in a fiscally responsible manner."

The Library’s budget vote and trustee election will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 6:00am to 9:00pm at Johanna Perrin Middle School Gymnasium.

The Fairport Public Library Board of Trustees is a group of elected officials that sets policy for library services and supervises the financial operations of the library; hires the Library Director; and acts as stewards for the community’s cultural and informational needs. The community is defined as the residents of the Fairport Central School District, which includes the Village of Fairport and most of the Town of Perinton—anyone who pays a school tax for Fairport schools. Trustees are publicly elected and the library budget is voted upon by voters each year at the same time as the separate school budget vote. Trustees serve a five-year term and can opt to run for re-election. The board currently has five members and the terms are staggered so that only one Board seat is up for election each year. Trustees attend a monthly meeting to conduct general library business and there are at least five standing committees that meet on a regular basis. Each trustee serves on two or more committees and may often be involved with other library or community activities. Board members are elected by popular vote and serve without pay for a term of five years.
