Alex Flinn is a self-taught author and a former attorney whose fascination with witness reliability and bias led her to write the young adult novel Fade To Black. She is the author of three previous books: Breathing Underwater, an ALA Top 10 Best Book for Young Adults; Breaking Point, an ALA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers; and Nothing To Lose, one of ALA Booklist's Top 10 Youth Mysteries.

Alex Flinn’s upcoming book is a companion to Breathing Underwater, tentatively titled Diva. It's about Caitlin's experiences at the performing arts school (and also with her Mom, one of Flinn's favorite characters in Breathing Underwater), and it will be out sometime in 2006.

Alex Flinn currently lives in Miami with her husband and two daughters.
